A tough bird to photograph in such harsh light. This was my effort. I would be interested if an expert could comment on the age / sex of this bird - looking at Per Alström it appears to be a worn adult female - the scapulars and the coverts are abraded but the yellow goes all the way under the belly. Per Alström also cautions on the confusion species [i]M. flava flavissima[/i] and [i]lutea[/i] but these appear out of range and are not in The Avifauna.
