Thanks Peter, a good day. I am sure from your other photo (not shown) that this is a Red-breasted Flycatcher.

I've mentioned before how in autumn it sometimes takes three or four days after the cold front passes through before the birds arrive - see these graphs comparing Spring (when birds arrive immediately after the cold front) and Autumn (when it can take a few more days). This is all due to the different migration routes in spring and autumn, across the sea in spring and over land/around the coast in autumn.

The cold front passed through on Sunday, the Alstrom's (Plain-tailed) Warbler arrived soon after but the others took longer.

I understand a Hume's Leaf Warbler was also seen on Thursday near to the Alstom's, photos taken and voice recordings made. But they are not mine.

Sorry for the late reply.

For the Red-Breasted Flycatcher on 3 and 5 of Nov. I wonder whether it is a Red-throated Flycatcher or a Red-Breasted Flycatcher. Attached is another photo I took on 3 Nov with Peter together. My bible "The BIRDS of HONG KONG and SOUTH CHINA" do not have description on Red-Breasted Flycatcher and so I am not sure how to distinguish the two. Thanks

Attached pls find the photo of the same bird on that day.

This one looks like Red-throated KK - are you sure it's the same bird?

kkchang168 16/11/2015 22:25

I think I took the photo together with Peter at that day.

Good records Leo. Particularly interested in the Flycatcher.

The second thrush photo above looks like Brown-headed or possibly Eyebrowed to me - grateful for other opinions.

leo2012 30/11/2015 12:00

Thanks wgeoff.
