Yesterday two Rufous-gorgeted Flycatchers were at the same area on the landslide trail to the left of the Main Falls as Tuesday's Japanese Robin.

The Rufous-gorgeted flycatcher was still around this morning 1/1 but only one was spotted.
An adult male Siberian Thrush was also spotted this morning in the same area.

Unfortunately, The Japanese Robin did not appear.....

Great photo of the thrush which based on black plumage and lack of white on the belly is the Japanese/S Sakhalin taxon davisoni which I think is the first recorded in HK (females and non-adult males are rather tricky to ID to taxon I believe).

Thanks Paul for the subspecies ID. I agree as this individual also had far less white on undertail-coverts and tail than the nominate subspecies.

Delighted to see this Siberian Thrush (especially great pix of this new race for HK) added to the other good birds here - its starting to feel a lot like the winter of 1994/95 when all three species were found, along with Fujian Niltava, Slaty-backed Forktail and Vivid Niltava (although the latter was not accepted).
Cheers
