Details of the Po Toi and HK South Waters Outing to be held on 4 May 2008 as below:-

Date: 04/5/2008 Sunday
Gathering place: [size=16][b]San Wai Ho MTR station, Hang Seng Bank[/b][/size]
Time: 0830 - 1600
Route: Starting from San Wai Ho, we will sail direct to the southern waters of HK for searching sea birds. At about 11:00pm, we will land on Po Toi Island for lunch and watch the Spring Migrants arriving there. We will leave Po Toi at around 1:00pm and back to Aberdeen along the southern coast of HK Island.
Leaders: Yu Yat Tung

Note: This will be a long trip on open waters. The ride could be quite rough and some people may be seasick.

Boat Fee: Member $160, Non-member $200  
Limited to 35 participants only - please return the registration form together with the boat fare to HKBWS Office for registration.

** We will confirm the participants about 2 weeks before the outing whether their reservation application is accepted or not. Once the reservation is confirmed, we will not accept any withdrawal. All the registered participants are required to pay the prescribed fare, no matter they can attend the outing or not. If we cancel the outing due to inclement weather or special reason, the paid fare will be refunded to the participants.

二零零八年五月四日舉行的《蒲台及香港南面水域》觀鳥活動詳情如下：

舉行日期：2008年5月4日(星期日)
集合時間：08:30 - 1600
集合地點：[size=16][b]西灣河鐵路站恆生銀行[/b][/size]
行程時間：上午八時三十分至下午約四時
行程路線：由西灣河碼頭出發，直接到香港南面水域尋找海鳥，約在下午十一時登上蒲台島午膳及觀看春季過境雀鳥，約下午一時離開蒲台島，沿港島南面海岸返回香港仔。
領隊：余日東

注意：參加者請自備足夠糧水。由於路程頗長，而且所經之處都是開闊海域，風浪較大，部份人士可能會感到不適。

船費：會員$160, 非會員 $200

The gathering place of coming Po Toi outing：

本星期的集合地點是：

Today the outing group are very fortunate to find a tropicbird species.  During on site discussion Red-tailed Tropicbird has been suggested.  On studying some information after I get back home, I think the plumage and small-bill points to white-tailed.  Let's see what other think.

Chinese Goshawk 2
Common Koel 1 heard (rare here?)
Asian Lesser Cuckoo 1 (rare anywhere - seen by Kwok-jai)
Blue-winged Pitta 1 (seen by Geoff Carey at 2:30 pm)
Grey-streaked Flycatcher 1
Arctic Warbler 2

shearwater photos anyone?

GREAT trip yesterday.... never expected to see a Tropicbird.... and thanks to all involved.

I am just beginning to learn shearwaters as I grew up far away from an ocean. . . . I saw both birds, but "shear" would like another chance.
