觀塘市中心的一個家燕巢，
今天已在育第二窩了。
巢的周圍有不少燈箱招牌，
小家燕要習慣在燈光下睡覺。

A Barn Swallow nest at Kwun Tong is now raising the second brood this year.
The chicks have to adapt to sleeping under the bright lights from advertising signs.

No need too worry! 燕子係一類很頑強的雀鳥！
市區的家燕一早已很習慣市區的街燈、霓虹燈及超強招牌大光燈！
而且嘈雜如廟街我都已見過有家燕，甚至是紅耳鵯築巢於此了！

其實如果有很多飛蟲的夜晚，這些超強光，就會變身成「引蟲器」，
街上所有的飛蟲都會全部集結於這些強光下，　
而家燕父母除了自己可以吃大餐吃到晚上起碼十點幾外，
連餵仔都可以不停地餵快d（因為同個巢距離近），
餵密d，同餵多好多餐添！　
結果就係d燕子仔好似飲左肥仔水咁，
原本20日左右先識飛，依家就隨時可以早成個星期就可以跟父母出外覓食！
情況有d似係近北極附近繁殖的雀鳥咁，利用當地夏天日長夜短既情況，
可以用最短既時間養大個仔咁！　
不過有時（特別係落完大雨之後）如果真係成條街都無飛蟲的話，
咁就算有燈都無用時，d 家燕父母就會寧願慳返d力，
只係企係個巢邊陪住d仔，而唔飛出去了！
　
其實越來越佩服D動物既適應力,
相對人好多時真係好無鬼用, 都唔夠D動物硬淨!

不過家燕父母會唔會因為工作時間過長，而短命左？我就唔敢講啦！


No need too worry!
Those bight lights like a moth trap, can attract many flying insect!
Therfore, the Swallow parent can feed more insect to their chicks frequently,
and the chicks will grow up faster (almost 1 week) than normal!
So you can always find that barn swallow in the city love to build nest near those spot light and streetlamp.

However, I question that do the barn swallow parents will be a shorter lifespan due to the over workload?

今日有些事要辦, 所以順路去左探佢地!
發現有3隻肥肥白白的家燕小朋友,
過多一個星期應該識飛了!

去到現場睇左一圈,
該巢既對面馬路仲有一巢,
不過幼鳥應該已離巢!
d 家燕父母咁鐘意係度築巢既原因,
好大可能係附近有成條街既街市,
我發覺香港既家燕真係好鐘意係街市附近築巢的,
可能因為街市濕淋淋, 多蚊的原故!
不過佢地很少會係正街市個條街築巢,
而係係隔離條街築巢的,
可能街市太污穢, 比較多細菌,
佢地唔想d 幼鳥易病,
所以要隔一條街築巢,
咁樣就可以方便餵仔,
d 仔又住得舒服d!

there's a new nest of barn swallows at Wong Shek Watersports Ctr since May, the parents were extremely busy taking turns to leave for food hunting when I saw them the other day ... hope they'll help 'remove' some flies ... etc.
