A small group of about 30-40 near Sai Kung pier and typhoon shelter almost the entire afternoon during the last 2 week, seldom saw them get so close to the shore.

Whiskered Terns

Thanks, KK - there seem to be a lot of Whiskered Terns around this year.

The rain was a challenge, but the wind was driving the tern flock into one small corner of the fishpond, so I couldn’t resist trying a few shots.

Also saw about a dozen over the fishponds next to the Mai Po access road on May 3, 2022.
