Po Toi - August 2012

Po Toi - August 2012

26 August

1 early Asian Brown Flycatcher and an almost early Dark-sided Flycatcher.

In the afternoon, seawatching a bit more than I expected:

3 Greater Crested Tern
3 Common Tern (including one flying the wrong way-Northwest)
2 White-winged Tern
34 Red-necked Phalaropes (in 3 groups all flying Northeast)
at least 45 Bridled Terns (difficult to count because they are flying in both directions)

30th August

Just a one-day visit to Po Toi today to prepare for next week when I will start my weekly autumn visits.

Two Aleutian Terns from the Ferry together with several migrant flocks of Barn Swallows flying south west low over the sea.
On the Island, a Dollarbird, a Brown Shrike, an Asia Brown Flycatcher and two Dark-sided Flycatchers.

Two large trees down in the summer typhoons but fortunately not the important Fung Shui trees. Also many large branches down, some blocking paths although some have been cleared away. Damage to roofs and awnings on several buildings but not mine.

Nature has reclaimed the land cleared for the Columbarium and the stones laid are now almost invisible.
