A flock of 64 Chinese goshawks drifted NNE over Sai Kung today. I observed them from our house and managed a couple of quick shots before they were too small for the 400mm lens.

The Sai Kung birds flew over at 11.20 this morning. It might be possible to track the movements.

I had a big flock of Chinese Goshawks over Mai Po this morning; I didn't see the full amount as my view was obscured by trees but there were at least one hundred, probably many more- they moved off towards Shenzen rapidly.  Quite a spectacle!  I saw two more at Chau Tau, these were kind enough to perch in trees and on power lines.

It's interesting to hear that people have seen migrating flocks on Lantau. I saw 31 individuals on south-west Lantau (between Shek Pik and Tai O) on Saturday, mostly perched individuals. There must surely have been many more on the island and migrating overhead.
There seems to have been an exceptional influx this week!

What is surprising is that there have not been large numbers of other migrants such as flycatchers.

I think this may be because Chinese Goshawks migrate in large flocks, so when one flock is affected by the weather then large numbers are involved. Birds which migrate singly have an advantage in this situation.

would like to know whether there is previous record of such a large flock of Chinese Goshawks migration in HK
想問下以前會唔會有大量赤腹鷹在香港過境的記錄
