This wader was with a group of Redshanks and I didn't notice it at first.  Could it be a Wood Sandpiper? Neil.

Looks like it Neil.  That's what I would have gone for.

Brownish uppers which are speckled and pale-ish legs (which are tricky too see, but I got that impression) And the obvious supercilium too, although I don't know if this is disagnostic?

Maybe wrong but I think the bird in the foreground is also a Common Red.

Upperpart feather patterning is identical to that of other Common Reds in same shot and different from Wood Sand I think.

I think you're right Mike.  It does look more like Common Red. The upperparts do extend further than Wood Sand.
