I am told there are Greater coucal building a nest in Kowloon Garden and Mei Po. I just wonder do they need nests since they are so famous or infamous for having free EGG care and CHILD care

I heard that they also nest, similar to Koel.  Although I never see their nest.

Although Greater Coucals are related to cuckoos, they do not parasitise other birds. They build their own nest and take care of their own chicks, in the same way as most bird species. I think the nest is usually hidden well in dense vegetation and I have never seen a coucal nest.

Koels are true cuckoos and they do parasitise other birds (in Hong Kong, usually Black-collared Starling or Eurasian Magpie). They do not build a nest or look after their own chicks.
