This group of seven was regularly reported at the boardwalk from 26 January to 13 March 2012.
As the 2012 HK Bird Report is about to be printed, I will try to change the latest date reported there to 17 March.

I haven't put the 2013 records together yet, but there may only be a single Common Shelduck reported in winter 2012-2013 and I can't recall any so far this winter 2013-2014?

A sad decline for this species from the 1990's when more than 1000 were regularly reported.

Geoff, as far as I know from the data, we have no Common Shelduck in this winter. It is probably the first winter to have more Ruddy Shelducks than the Common!
