The House Swift

bird
of birds
their feet traded

for fearless
freedom
above the day

swings and surfing
of ink-droplets
baffling

to the grounded
who plough
plots, mind-bent

shin-deep, till
they are awaken
to the shrill joy

in enfilade
by the return of
summer
