A bird was seen this morning at Tai Sang Wei. It is yellowish above the eye and it is not larger than a young bulbul. We cannot match it from photos in books. Please advise how to identify it.

This is probably an Eastern Yellow Wagtail in non-breeding plumage

Agree, Eastern Yellow Wagtail of the subspecies taivana.
Your book may show birds in breeding plumage only. The young birds are greyer above and whiter below than breeding adults and at this time of year they are very variable, as they are moulting and are starting to get yellow and green feathers of adults.

Thank you very much for you all and your comments. It may be interesting to know why the tauvana subspecies has such colour pattern. Thanks anyway.
