Owing to sedimentation, the channels in Gei wai #4 has been silting up over the years; therefore the channels have gradually become shallow which results in a loss of water volume needed by aquatic fauna.
As a result, habitat enhancement work will be carried out this summer. The perimeter channels will be desilted from mid-July to October. The silt/mud removed will be placed along the outer perimeter bund and the cross bunds. A gap will also be created to facilitate water exchange at the seaward bund between GW #3 and #4.
