At Mai Po on Thursday.  Does anyone know if it's a snake or an eel? Neil.

Great shot Neil, it looks as though you can see the snakes fangs

It looks like a Swampy Eel Monopterus albus

Agree with John, this is a Swampy Eel - not a commonly encountered fish in Mai Po.

A search in the AFCD biodiversity database ( http://www.afcd.gov.hk/english/c ... database/search.asp ) gives some basic information about the eel.
