Digiscoping with the Nikon P330

Digiscoping with the Nikon P330

I was attracted to the P330 when Nikon added Raw.

I have the P300 and P310 and have found them very easy to digiscope with using a universal-type adapter.  One of the advantages of the small sensor cameras is that the Auto focus is faster due to more light available.  There is a two stop light advantage with the P330 over the Sony RX 100.
I set up the P330 on the Swarovski DCB 11 Adapter on the STX 95 mm Scope or the Swarovski UCA Adapter on the Kowa eyepieces.
The P330 has a good Macro Zone ( Green) out to about 66 mm which is where I normally shoot it. It's fast burst mode is good for capturing fast feeding action of stints out on the mudflats.
Here are a few photos and there is a video here https://vimeo.com/67255369

Many thanks for this review and some fine shots - I especially liked the floating stint .

My Coolpix 5000, which I hand-hold to a Zeiss scope, is beginning to feel its age. would you consider the 330 as a worthy replacement?

Cheers

Mike,
My P5000 is gathering dust, along with the Nikon 4500,P5100,8400,P300,P310 and P7000 in my cupboard but it took some nice photos in it's day.
I was looking at some the other day as I was sorting out my Flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/7892550@N03/sets/72157624329995710/
It even went on a trip to Egypt with me.
The Nikon P330 will be a good replacement and is much faster than the P5000. It's Burst mode at 10 fps will be good enough to freeze stints feeding out on the mudflats and it's small sensor means that it will get faster shutter speeds with less light than bigger cameras.
