Articles for the HKBWS bulletin

I've just received the latest bulletin for summer 2008, and was somewhat surprised to see on the back cover a photo of a flamingo chick with its parents.

I believe that the HKBWS should be concerned with the enjoyment and conservation of wild birds and their habitats. However cute the picture is, and however much it may tug at one's heartstrings, I believe it is somewhat out of place in a bulletin of the Society, or even on its website.

What do others think?

The reason I didn't say anything when the pictures first appeared on the website is that I didn't want to appear a grumpy old man! I assumed it probably wouldn't come up again. However, when it came up the second time, I felt it was time to say something.

Zoos, bird parks, bird markets, the wild bird trade. They are all related. The keeping or trading of wild-caught birds in any form is something the Society should be actively fighting against.
