Digiscoping with the coming Ricoh GXR prosumer DC

Happened this morning to come across details about a prosumer DC, the GXR, which is about to be released to the market by Ricoh. The link to the information is:  http://www.ricoh.com/r_dc/gxr/specs.html#02

In brief, GXR works on the principle of providing lens changing functionality in the DC working environment along with the ability of dust prevention through incorporating the sensor in the lens unit itself.

One of the lens units in GXR is the f2.5-4.4 VC 24-72mm, which, in my opinion, is terrific for the purpose of digiscoping.

If the lens had been 28-105mm, it would had been even more terrific. It is obvious that the 24-72 setting appeals more to the needs the customers in general. After all, we, digiscopers, are the minority.

The GXR is provided with an external EVF, like what the old GX models have been doing, which is a facility that allows for DSLR-like shooting to be possible on a prosumer DC.

Must be an expensive set, I think. The receptionist in Ricoh said that a press release cum demonstration would be held in Japanese to showcase the camera very soon.

Hoped that the 24-72mm is an improved version from the one that has been using on the GX and that there is great enhancement in noise control with the sensor to be used.

Regards,
Peter
