As suggested by webmaster, I just want to share my following questions and findings (have some modifications). Kindly also advice your views to share with those with same questions like me. Thanks. Q: I often find that it is very limited to use the "Birds of Hong Kong & South China" ONLY to identify birds. In particular, the painted images do not always match with the birds seen and pictured in real life. Could anyone suggest some books for this purpose? It would be great that it can show/paint the differences between the 1st, 2nd, ..... years-old etc. A: A difficult question indeed. Age is a difficult topic for most of the birds. For gull, duck, shorebird and raptor, there are some good books: 1. Shorebirds: An Identification Guide to the Waders of the World by Tony Prater , Peter Hayman , John Marchant 2. Seabirds : An Identification Guide by Peter Harrison 3. Waterfowl: An Identification Guide to the Ducks, Geese and Swans of the World by Steve Madge, Hilary Burn, Roger Tory Peterson 4. Raptors of the World by James Ferguson-Lees 5. The Raptors of Europe and the Middle East: A Handbook of Field Identification (A Volume in the T & AD Poyser Series) by Dick Forsman Don't buy the "all in one book" if u are a serious birdwatcher.

For Far East birds, quite a number of photographic guides from Japan are of very good quality and supplementary to guides with drawing. These are my favourites: ¤é¥»ÇU³¥³¾590 by ¯u¤ìûóy, ¤j¦è±Ó¤@ ÇëdzǻǧÃþ¸µ¾ÇËÇïÇÅÇLÇÀÇ« (Flying raptors handbook) by ¤s§Î«h¨k
