Hi I live in Lantau and this time of year we always hear a bird whose call is just like: "Yaat Yee Saam Sei". I'd love to know which bird has that song, It's been bothering me for a long time. Also a link to a pic would be great so I can see what the bird looks like. It's a lovely song by the way! TIA. Allan.

If it's a constantly repeated four-note call, a far-carrying sound that you can also hear at night, then my suggestion is Indian Cuckoo. They start calling around the second week of April, and can go on into June. Herklots described this call in Cantonese as a young bride's lament: - "Koh poh da ngoh!" (My mother-in-law hits me!) The call is also described in Salim Ali's Indian Bird books as "One more bot-tle", so the call is a favourite of mine !
