Please help to identify them

I don't have SLR on hand, use DC with all digital Zoom to take, very poor quality.
brown in color, approx 1.5 to 2 feet long, rich and beautiful blue and green color at tail part exposed when flying, not a good flyer as the action is quite clumsy. Possible a purple heron??

This one is more clear, looked like litte egret but grey/black in color.

#1: 3:00 pm 24/6/04, at the back of Tap Mun Police Post Tap Mun island, Tai Po.
Look alike but I can't found the tail part in colorful blue and green
#2: 1 or 2/11/03, at Tap Mun new public pier
