Mei Po - BH8 11/09/2004 I saw this bird several times outside BH8. From the beak sharp, it looks like a plover but with a black legs Please help identify. size compared with BWS

Dear Felix, I think it is a juvenile Lesser Sand Plover. Short bill, 'large head, small body' are well shown in your picture. Greater Sand Plover has a longer bill and body. Issac: Oriental Plover has more longer wings, slimmer body and longer and thinner bill. Tung
