Hi Marcus This si aan Asian Brown Fycatcher (probably a juvenile - hence the markings on the breast) How can you tell? The bill is very broad and pale at the base (the scientific name is Muscicapa latirostris - latirostris means broad-billed) Cheers Mike K

No. not a juvenile which would be very spotty on the upperparts, but a first winter. I.e. a bird that has undertaken a body moult from juvenile plumage into an adult like plumage but has retained juvenile greater coverts.
