I photographed what appeared to be a juvenile Black Bulbul at Tai Po Kau last week. Can someone confirm and do you know if they are normally there in early August? Neil. http://www.pbase.com/neilfif11/image/47318632

Neil, As you described, they probably bred in Tai Po Kau this year. It seems there was no breeding record of such species in HK and your observation could be the first. In Hong Kong, Black Bulbul usually occur in winter or early spring. It's unusual to find them in summer time. I also saw 2 adult black bulbul in Tai Po Kau at early August last year. I suspect they have a small breeding population in Tai Po Kau. Gary

I have a very poor quality photo that I was too embarressed to post but it might be worth following up on. I saw them two weeks running in the main picnic area on the Red walk.Neil.
