I photographed these two snipe from Hide 8 today at MPNR. They were up at the left hand end. As I haven't seen snipe in HK before I'm not sure what they are. Any ideas? The easiest way to identify snipe on the deck is on the length of the bill. Fanail Snipe's bill is always twice as long as the head or more. Pintail and Swinhoe's are always less. Note that Pintail and Swinhoe's Shipe are not safely seperable in the field and should be left as unidentified 'Swintail" snipe! I would say your birds here are Fantails Cheers Mike K
