We heard a flapping about in some low bushes and this small raptor like bird flew out at high speed. About the size of a kestrel. Sorry the photo is so bad. Any ideas anyone? Judging from the white patches that can be seen on the undertail coverts, and the underwing pattern, I would guess Crested Goshawk.

I would suggest female Japanese Sparrowhawk from the relatively slim wings, the dense barring on the underwing coverts, and the proportionately short tail.
