Hi, I am a newbie here, nice to meet you all. I have met an unknown gull in Cheung Chau recently, need your help to identify it. Location: Cheung Chau , Tung Wan Date: 09-12-05 Time: 0840 It stayed alone on the beach, with a Pacific Reef Egret on the other side of the beach. When the reef egret saw the gull, it cautiously approached the gull, and finally the egret expelled the gull from its territory (maybe, as the reef egret always here). The gull's leg was broken actually, but luckily, it still can fly. Is it a Vega Gull (1st winter), or something else? Here got some photo for ref.: Thank You!

It's so sad to see that the left foot of the gull was about to fall off !

Thanks Mike. hi Owlet-nightjar~ Yes, yesterday (Monday), it appeared on the beach again, this time there was no egret anymore, it cound stay on the beach peacefully. Sadly, its left foot was badly wounded... hoping that it can still survive after this chilling winter.
