Photographed today near the Warden's hut at MPNR. My first thought was female Eastern Marsh Harrier. Am I close? Neil. MPNR, Hong Kong, China. 20/12/05 Nikon D2x plus Nikon 80-400 VR lens

It's a Common Buzzard, Neil, so I guess you were reasonably close. The generally pale underparts, especially the undersides of the wings, the dark tips to the undersides of the primaries, the dark flank patches, the finely barred tail and the moustachial stripe all make it this species. Also all structural features we can see fit, though it is slightly unfamiliar pose. Mike Turnbull
