Is it a Streaked-breasted Scimitar Babbler (棕頸(金勾)嘴(眉鳥))? Thanks a lot! 11/02/2006 Tai Po Kau 大埔滘

I am not sure if I saw the same bird in TPK about 2 weeks before. Could I suggest the possibility of a white-browed laughing thrush? Lun & Lynx reported the Rufous-Necked Scimitar Babbler earlier. Martin47 recently reported the Greater Necklaced Laughing Thrush. They all share prominent white brows Interesting.

But this is definitely Str.-br. Scimitar Babbler. The first image, in which youcan see the decurved bill, makes that quite clear, as does the length and stunning prominence of the supercilium, the dark face, and the general coloration. Mike Turnbull

The most interesting things of this picture is the bird collecting leaves. Is it building nest with leaf litter at Mid Feb.? Gary

They've certainly been extremely noisy and active everywhere recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if courtship activity and indeed nest-building have begun. Mike Turnbull
