Don't think it was taken in N. America north of the US/Mexico border - it's obviously a hummingbird btw - but really this kind of query would be better directed to another place. Our expertise is in HK, China and Asian birds primarily. Mike Turnbull

Yes, I agree on closer examination I think it probably is a Rufous Hummingbird, which does of course occur in the NW US and right up the Canadian west coast. Mike Turnbull

Just found out from my friend that the photo was taken in California. So, it should be a Rufous Hummingbird, right? Many thanks to all of you!!!~
