Kam Tin 06/11/05 This flock of birds (about 40) looked like Chestnut Bulbuls (with 1 Chinese Bulbul). I did not expect to see so many Chestnut Bulbuls in Kam Tin.

Yes they are chestnut bulbuls. This is unusual - I visit Kam Tin regularly and have only seen chestnut bulbul here once before (a group of 6 last autumn). This is presumably a migrant flock on their way towards their breeding grounds.

It has been pointed out to me that the date for this photo is November. So, I now suggest this is actually a migrant flock moving away from their breeding grounds. I remember autumn 2005 being particularly good for this species, with flocks turning up in a number of unusual locations.
