These don't fit any plumage of Russet Sparrow, I don't think. I think they must be very rather fresh juveniles of one of the Rosefinch species Carpodocus etc. The only adult female they resemble, in Clement , Harris and Davis's Finches and Sparrows is Przewalski's Urocynchramus pylzowi. Interested to hear what those with real Far-west China experience say! Mike Turnbull
