I think this is Japanese, from the dark brown wings and tail and the dark grey breast. But can you tell us where and when this and the Cuckoo photograph were taken?

Thank God for this photo, restoring my confidence in my ability to identify at least some of these birds - clearly a Japanese Paradise, of course. Does the underpart patterning suggest an adult, and is that why it's so obvious, I wonder? Mike Turnbull

| Hi Geoff, Thanks for your id. Both JPF and the Cuckoo were seen at Po Toi on 8/10/2006. I have posted some photos of JPF on Photo Gallery I. And do you have any idea about the species of the Cuckoo? I also agreed this it a Japanese Paradise, I saw a Asian Paradise at Kowloon Park. It's breast showed a with very clear cut of white and dark blue grey than this. And the wing color is brighter than this.
