Black-crested Bubul 黑冠黃鵯
一 月 一 號 / 下 午 三 時 三 十 分 / 龍 虎 山
單 隻 黑 冠 黃 鵯 在 一 群 紅 耳 鵯 中 ， 此 鳥 非 常 特 出 ， 有 紅 耳 鵯 的 黑 冠 ， 頭 部 也 是 全 黑 ( 一 點 發 亮 感 覺 是 深 藍 色 )， 腹 部 是 黃 色 ， 背 部 和 白 頭 翁 的 顏 色 相 像 。 它 們 一 起 在 水 坑 洗 澡 時 ，確 認 大 小 與 紅 耳 鵯 相 同。
查 書 後 發 現 為 雲 南 和 廣 西 稀 有 留 鳥 ， 在 東 南 亞 和 印 度 是 普 遍 留 鳥 。
這 一 隻 是 否 逸 鳥 / E 類 ?
香 港 是 否 有 記 錄 ?

Black Crested Bulbul
1 Jan 2003/ 1530 / HKU Lung Fu Shan
A single black crested bulbul was found in a group of crested bulbul. This bird is quite outstanding (but at the first glance we believe that it is crested bulbul) because of its black crest and little shinning black head, yellow belly and the similar color at the back with Chinese bulbul. The size is the same as crested bulbul.
After checking with books, this bird is not a uncommon resident in Guangxi and Yunan Province and is common in the Far East Asia and India.
Is it an escaped bird / Cat E ?

If you look in 'The Avifauna of Hong Kong', you will see that here have been no records of Black-crested Bulbul in Hong Kong.
Given the normal range of this species, it is likely that the bird you saw was not of natural occurrence. However, do please submit your record to the Society using the reporting form for rare birds or unusual sightings which is on the website.

I saw a black crested bulbul one year and a half ago at the same location. I believed it was an escape from the aviary near by.
