White-rumped Shama 白腰鵲鴝

A male White-rumped Shama was spotted at Tai Po Kau this morning (26/4/2003).

A wonderful bird, but certainly an escape. The closest sites to Hong Kong are in S Yunnan and Hainan island and it is not a migrant. However it is a very beautiful bird and I am sure many people wuld be interested to see it. Where in Tai Po kau did you see it? Mike

Hi Mike, The bird was around the park warden's post and it sang beautifully. It was harassed by local birds repeatedly and not sure if it would stay.
