Birding tips required

Hi all, I migrated from Hong Kong to Singapore in 1993 and only in August this year did I start birdwatching. And as I watch birds, I would use my little digital camera to take photographs of them. I really enjoy looking for and watching the elusive birds in the wild. My family will be going to Hong Kong in November and will be staying there for 10 days. I would appreciate it if someone in HKBWS would give us advice on birdwatching in Hong Kong, e.g. which are the better sites to watch birds from Nov to Dec, transport info., etc. I have a 6 year-old son, so we would like places that are more easily accessible and do not require too much walking and climbing. Thanks in advance. Let me share with you the photos of two birds I took in Singapore: 1. Yellow-vented bulbul - a very common bird in Singapore. They are found nearly everywhere except in the deep forest. They are fond of berries and small fruits, especially figs and cinnamon tree fruits. They sip nectar, nibble on young shoots, and snack on insects. They forage in bushes and trees for berries and insects, and may even catch swarming insects on the wing. http://img7.photobucket.com/albums/v18/tanghb/2004_sg_Nature/20040604_08 59d_Sime_Forest_Edit1.jpg 2. Chestnet-bellied Malkoha - a rare bird in Singapore. This is the only species of Malkoha left in Singapore, and is found only the the Central catchment forest. http://img7.photobucket.com/albums/v18/tanghb/2003_sg_Nature/20031026_10 53b_Sime_Forest_Edit.jpg Cheers. Welocme back to HK. There are many places in HK good for a family bird watching. 1) Kowwlon Park 2) Hong Kong Park 3) Long valley (塱 原 近 上 水) 4) Kam Tin (錦 田 近 元 朗 ) 5) Mai Po is good place but u need permit. HKBWS will have a Mai Po outing on 23 Nov. U can consider , but yr son is 6 years old may be too hard for him. ( see this bbc activity) Hope u enjoy the trip in HK. If u need further information pls send me a mail (email address send to yr personal mail box in this bbs). Cheers Apache Lau
