This morning a Common Swift was briefly at Long Valley at around 10:40. This is an extraordinary record as the bird should be in Southern Africa in winter. There is only only possible confusion species - Dark-rumped Swift. This has white-scalloped flanks and underbelly, while the bird I saw today was sooty brown-black all over. This is the third record for Hong Kong (if accepted by the Records Committee) There was a also a male Bluethroat around the central marshy area. Cheers Mike
