A Brown Chested Jungle Flycatcher was seen at TPK, half way between picnic area#1 n #2, at the bamboo area at 10:30 to 11:00am. Obervered features as follow... - Large size around 6 inch - Dull Browish upperpart including crown, nape and mantle - Bright brown tail - White underpart and, without any fringe or color at flank, - White throat - Large dark eye, I don't see prominent eye ring. - Large bill with very pale(yellow) color, unproportionally large! - Pale yellow legs - found inside bamboo and below canopy Other records today - Besra - Asian Paradise Flycatcher - Asian Brown Flycatcher - Hainan Blue Flycatcher - Arctic Warbler - Eastern Crowned Warbler

Hi, I was there at that rainy morning sharing the fun when the bird was spotted. I thought Peter ( am I rite?) had taken a JPG of the bird. Can't wait to see the bird again here ! Cheers from Jimmy

TPK 28Aug2004 It was still there on Sunday 29August04, but very difficult to see as it was constantly chased away by a Hainan Blue Flycatcher (male). Tech stuff : Canon 10D, 400mm 5.6 and Flash + Beamer. PWMK

| 1. when yellow/brown and red/blue walk splits, follow red/blue walk 2. at around 30M ahead, bamboo at right, this is the first spot I saw the bird. (or 50M before the picnic area(#2) where you can find the wooden snake and wooden pig.) And for everybody's info. picnic area at the dam area is #1. picnic area with the pig and snake is #2.

| Is it a kind of territorial behavior? I think that area is the usual place of Hainan Blue Flycatcher. The breeding season has not yet been passed?

Another brown-chested flycatcher was seen at TPK yesterday (19th September). The bird was on the brown/yellow walk between a path leading from the stream on the blue walk and a track track leading up to the forest road (where there was a marker post with reference KK 090 823) There is a slight valley, the bird was last seen flying up this. The bird was only seen briefly and could not be relocated before the rain arrived at 10.40. The following features were noted: Large flycatcher, fairly horizontal posture Back medium-brown, underparts whitish with slight brownish/grey wash to breast, white throat Long, heavy bill Longish tail, frequently raised/fanned Legs short, pale pink Unfortunately, I have no photos of the bird to post here!
