Po To Outing Report 蒲台鳥／南丫海峽觀鳥活動報告12/9/2004

昨天（9月12日）「蒲台鳥／南丫海峽」的觀鳥活動共有20人出席，錄得多種遷徙 過境鳥類，紀錄如下：
20 persons took part in yesterday’s (12 September 04) outing to Po Toi and Lamma Channel. A number of passage migrants were found. The results are:
- Little Egret 小白鷺
- Reef Egret 岩鷺
- Red-necked Phalarope 紅頸瓣蹼鷸 12
- Aleutian Tern 白腰燕鷗 about 40 (不少站在水面的圾垃上休息 some rested on rubbish floating on the water)
- Common Tern 普通燕鷗 2
- Broad-billed Roller 三寶鳥 2 （停在樹上達二十分鐘，任拍 one perched for up to 20 min.）
- White-bellied Sea Eagle 白腹海鵰 1
- Black-eared Kite 麻鷹
- Arctic Warbler 極北柳鶯 1
- Common Kingfisher 普通翠鳥 2
- Chinese Bulbul 白頭鵯
- Brown Shrike 紅尾伯勞 1
- Long-tailed Shrike 棕背伯勞
- Pale-legged Leaf Warbler 灰腳樹鶯 1
- Yellow-rumped Flycatcher 白眉姬鶲 1 (female/juvenile)
- Asian Brown Flycatcher 北灰鶲 1
- Hair-crested Drongo 髮冠卷尾 1
- Black Drongo 黑卷尾
- Chinese Starling 灰椋鳥 115 (兩群 in 2 flocks)
- Crested Mynah 八哥
- Large-billed Crow 大嘴烏鴉

Although not part of the HKBWS outing, I also visited Po Toi on 12th, using the kai do from St. Stephen's Beach, Stanley. At 9.00 a.m. a flock of over 100 Chinese Pond Herons were circling in the bay between Chung Hom Kok and Stanley Fort. There was a dollar bird at the St. Stephen's sports field area.
On Po Toi additional notable species found were:
Forest Wagtail
Red Vented Bulbul
Blue Rock Thrush
Dusky Shrike
Swallow
Plain Prinia (?)
also:
Magpies
Crested Mynahs
Chinese Bulbul
Crested Bubul
Pond Heron
Hope this is of some interest.

Interestingly a non-birding friend of mine, who lives in Stanley, reported the presence overhead there on Sunday am of "hundreds" of "egrets". Equally interestingly PT itself held only three CPH and one Little Egret during the HKBWS outing.
