A Sad Birding Report 傷感的觀鳥報告

One of the major threads of city-dwelling birds is the high speed vehicles. A wild pigeon was obviously a victim when I noticed its body on the road one day. Before long, I saw another pigeon standing about 2 metres away staring at the body, looking confused. It did not show any concern even when I approached at a short distance. I soon left the spot trying not to disturb further but the sad story followed. The pigeon walked to the centre of the road seemingly without a purpose. A car drove by but luckily missed the pigeon. It again showed no concern. A second car came but further luck was not with the pigeon. I was astonished at the behaviour of the pigeon. If there were a close link between a pigeon couple, I never knew that could be so close. I felt very upset about the sight and nearly shed my first tears for the birds. Further after thoughts increase my love for birds who display so much love like we human beings.

A very sad story indeed... May the souls of the two pigeons departed from this miserable world rest in peace.
