This bird has been considered an escape since in first appeared a couple of years ago. The closest wild population is in E Guangxi, which is not that far, but this bird is not known to be a migrant. Cheers Mike

I walked up to Ng Tung Chai this morning from Ping Long village. Lots of birds about! Daurian Redstart 2 male 3 female Verditer- perched high in bamboo below Ng Tung Chai village. When it flew it looked to have rusty tinged primaries and tail- it was back lit by the sun. Is that normal? I can't find that anywhere in the descriptions I have for the bird. Black Drongo with a very worn tail Red-tailed Robin Grey-cheeked Fulvetta (pair) Mountain Tailorbird Grey-backed Thrush- male White's Thrush Ashy Drongo- near Lam Kam Road Grey-headed Flycatcher- 2 - near Lam Kam Road There seemed to be a lot of thrushes about, hard to pin down though, as always.
