Long Valley - Sep 3, 2006 - afternoon Birds additional to those mentioned in the Long Valley: Summer 2006 thread were 5 Black-winged Stilts and a single Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler. There are still good numbers of Pintail Snipe going through. Yellow Wagtail numbers continue to increase with a pre-roost gathering of 50+ on the fields. The vast majority of these were tschutschensis, but there was at least one taivana. david

Gary - Regarding Alexandrine Parakeet at Long Valley - apparently it's not the first record. The Avifauna states that one was at Long Valley from 29 October to 9 November 1994 (although I've checked my notes which indicate that I first saw this bird on 27 October 1994.) I don't know if there have been any other occurrences between then and now. Cheers, Dave.
