We have visited the Nam Wai mangroves in this morning and observed 19 bird spices, the list as follow: Great Coucal 1pc White Breast WaterHen 1pc Crested Bulbul 4pcs Chinese Bulbul 4pcs Little Egret 13 pcs Great Egret 3pcs Grey Heron 3pcs Black Kite 1pc Black-Capped Kingfisher 1pc Barn Swallow 1 pc Koel 1pc Black Necked Starling 2 pc Common Sandpiper 2pcs Rufous Turtle Dove 6pcs Spotted Dove 2pcs Magpie Robin 1pc Kentish Plover 10pcs Jungle Crow 1pc Common Ringed Plover or Little Ringed Plover* 2pcs * we are not sure the last species, I will go to visit the site in next weekend and take some photo. Some of the mangroves tree are over 6m tall which is uncommon in Sai Kung. The sea grass species Halophila ovata are also founded. Except the pollution along the seashore, this is a good site for bird watching, anyone feel intrest, pls contact me for details.
