We need your help for Taiwan !
You would remember the big success of Wild Bird Federation Taiwan ( WBFT ) to save the most important breeding habitat of Fairy Pitta( Pitta nympha) at the Pillow Mountain of Huben Village, Taiwan. At that time, the Government of Taiwan worked very well to protect the Pillow Mountain. But the same development plan comes out again and WBFT needs your support urgently. It is greatly appreciated if you could send a message or request to encourage the President Chen and Premier Yu of Taiwan Government to work again for saving this extremely important habitat. Save the habitat of Fairy Pitta (Pitta nympha) in Taiwan

In January 2003, the local government of Yunlin County, Taiwan granted the permit to a private company for gravel extraction on Pillow Mountain in Huben Village, effected from the January, 2003 to the January, 2004. . We need your support to help us to stop it. This area, Pillow Mountain, Huben village is the biggest breeding site for the Fairy pitta (Pitta nympha) in Taiwan, even in the world so far as we know. According to the recent research, we found 159 pitta individuals in this area during the breeding season of 2001. In addition, we have found 97 species birds of 33 families, including 5 endemic species, 32 sub-endemic species in this very area. This is a typical biodiversity of lowland forest in Taiwan. We need your support to urge our government knows how important it is! It should not be destroyed for the gravel extraction. Not only for the conservation of the Fairy Pitta and Taiwan, but also for the world.

Dear Macro & Ichida-san:
I just heard a bad news. The habitat for Fairy pitta in Hu-Ban, Yun-Ling county will face the developing pressure from those who hope to dig the stone and sand in this land to get the money for themselves. The same situation was happened in 2 years ago and it comes back again. Now we need your help to let our President Chen and the Premier, Mr. YU Shyi-kun know this place is so important in world view.
There will be a Press conference this weekend (15 Feb.) in Taipei. I hope I can receive your message before this Friday and I can transfer it in Chinese and announce to the Press. Thank you for your help.
