【明報專訊】每年一到春天及秋天候鳥遷徙季節，美國便有大量雀鳥在晚上飛行時 ，因受燈光吸引而撞向高樓大廈的玻璃致死，生物學家估計數量多達10億隻雀鳥。 為保護候鳥安全遷徙，美國保護雀鳥組織呼籲，位於候鳥遷徙路線城市內的高樓大 廈在晚上關燈。
Lights in glass buildings attract migrating birds. It is estimated that up to 1 billion birds were killed by when they hit windows each year in the US. Bird conservation groups urge that buildings along the flight paths should switch off the lights to reduce the mortality.
