「【 明 報 專 訊 】 全 球 為 數 不 過 百 隻 的 新 西 蘭 鴞 鸚 鵡 （ Kakapo ） 正 面 臨 一 種 名 為 Erysipelas 的 神 秘 病 毒 [正確名稱應為丹毒鏈球菌，根據紐西蘭政府網頁資料，此病並不神秘，而且已有 治療方法，詳見下文連結] 威 脅 ， 上 周 已 有 3 隻 鴞 鸚 鵡 受 感 染 突 然 死 亡 ， 新 西 蘭 政 府 正 計 劃 為 這 些 平 均 每 隻 重 9 磅 的 瀕 臨 絕 種 巨 鸚 鵡 注 射 疫 苗 保 命 。 」
The Kakapos in New Zealand are threatened by a disease caused by the rare Erysipelas bacterium. Three birds have already died last week. The Zealand government is administering treatment to the infected birds.
