50k birds killed in Ulansuhai Nur 烏梁素海五萬候鳥遇害

There was a news report at Xinhua News agency website on 11 November that about 50,000 birds were killed and 23,000 eggs were collected in Ulansuhai Nur for bird trade (from May to August 2005). It was carried out by a local captive centre which was sold to a farm owner in May. The birds were caught and trade at a variety of places including Guangzhou.
Local official mentioned that there is no evident on the exact figure, but it is known that 9,144 ducks and coots were sold in Guangzhou.

「不久前，內蒙古自治區森林公安局在烏梁素海破獲一起特大非法獵捕候鳥案。公安機關發現，今年５月至８月底，烏梁素海多次發生獵捕候鳥案件，而獵捕者竟然是烏梁素海水禽救護馴養繁殖中心。公安部門對中心承包人蔡聖霞以涉嫌非法獵捕候鳥依法刑事拘留。」
