CLP's wind farm at Changdao, Shandong Province will be open next year. The company is also planning another off-shore wind farm (the first such facility in China) there. Located at the northernmost tip of the Shandong peninsula, the Changdao group of islands lies on the migration path of over 200 species of birds.

A report on blatant bird trapping a Changdao in November 2004. Migrating birds were caught in huge numbers by mist nets and sold as meat and pets. Raptors were caught and used to catch other birds.

Title: Enjoy freeing migratory birds at Changdao. The Changdao Tourist Bureau organized the event as a tourist attraction on the Chinese national day. Tourists were allowed to ring birds and then release them.
Changdao was designated at a national bird reserve in 1982. A bird ringing centered was established in 1985.
