Message for members' information. -----Original Message----- From: Ali Stattersfield [Ali.Stattersfield@birdlife.org] Sent: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 8:43 PM Subject: Significant Trade Review of the Hill Myna Dear Colleagues As some of you already know, John Pilgrim (copied here) is working with Stuart Butchart, Nigel Collar, and myself at BirdLife International to undertake 'Significant Trade Reviews' of three bird species for the CITES Secretariat. These STRs are designed to assess whether a species is experiencing problems globally, or in any range state, as a result of international trade. We would very much appreciate your input to the attached draft review for Hill Myna (Gracula religiosa). We are working to a tight time frame and need your response before 16th January 2006, so that we can update the review and return it to the CITES Secretariat. The information we are currently lacking is: 1. Up-to-date information on population status and trends. 2. National legislation protecting the species. There are also some other areas highlighted in the text that require further information, and we are keen to have your general feedback and comments on the overall assessment. We hope very much that you will be able to contribute to this important work. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further clarification, or if you have suggestions of other potential reviewers. We look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance for your help. Best wishes, Ali ************************************************************************ ******* Alison Stattersfield Head of Science BirdLife International Attachment: About the bird
