Why under threat?? A lot of NGOs fought very hard in 2000 and 2001. So, 90% of the site is zoned as Conservation Area, much better than those in the first draft Outline Zoning Plan (OZP). In the original draft OZP, about 25% are V-zone, now just several percentage. Anyway, most of TLW should be safe after this battle. Captain

It may not be under threat so long as the NGO's continue to monitor the situation, wait until they start bringing construction material on the site and what about sewerage, additional power lines and telephone lines will have to be run across the Sai Kung East Country Park. Yes the "Save Tai Long Wan" campaign was successful in limiting the area that can be developed BUT you look around the New Territories and see how some villages have abused the Conservation Area's. As you are very aware by the time an NGO observes illegal works going on and it is reported to the relevant government department. The damage has already been done to the environment, just look at the rivers and streams that have permamently ruined - no matter how large the court fines are - the damage has been done. Let hope it doesn't happen to Tai Long Wan
